This is a new series for those that are interested to learn easy online marketing for their business

keyword research in simple terms

keyword research in simple terms

Don’t worry, we will not be doing anything really techie and we will not be doing very much SEO at all…we don’t need to as dominating Google for the right keywords doesn’t take a great deal of effort if it is done properly.

Here is something to get you thinking for to get started.

How to choose keywords for your Offline Business

Take a look at your market, think what you are selling or what your service is and what keyword phrases you would want to use. Go to the Google keyword tool by searching for that term, type in your keyword there and there will be a list of keywords similar and the average number searches per month.
Next, if you type into Google search the term that you like you will see how many competing pages there are on the top bar of the search.
What you are looking for is the right blend between the maximum amount of searches for the minimum amount of competition and from there you can identify which keywords will be easiest to rank for.

This is commonly known within online marketing as the long tail…often people think of long tail as a string of keywords tied together, it is not it is simple the combination as mentioned above…high search vs. low competition = long tail.
Does that make sense?

There are some great tools available that helps a lot with this and its very fast to get the results and spot the keywords that you want to choose to use.
If you want to know about them and which ones i would recommend send me an email and i will send you some details or just leave a comment below.
We are not finished there yet though.
We also need to identify the keywords that have high commercial intent, we will call these the “money’ or the “buying’ keywords or keyword phrases.
How do we find them?

Its just a matter of common sense really, have a look through and see if you can spot what people use for browsing and research as opposed to buying intent.

I will give you a good example to get you started, the whole scenario described might look like this…

How to choose keywords for your online business marketing

So lets say you are selling Soap. If you type into Google the word “soap” it is going to be high volume of traffic, high competition and its not a buying keyword, its just a generic word and its no good to you to use for marketing purposes, so perhaps we would look at “buy soap online” and “online soap shop” but these don’t generate enough searches and they are too general. What we want to do is to drill down more into a niche…for example “hand crafted soaps” or “hand crafted soaps from Scotland” or hand made soaps
what do we find…handmade soap has 6,600 searches per day and it has 30,200 competing pages.
with the methods i will be teaching in the meetup groups or webinars , this is a very easy target…we could dominate that keyword, with multiple google listings in the top ten and if we were selling soap, we would know that there are 6600 people in UK every month searching for that term and we would be dominating the web pages where they will land.smile
We could and should drill down even further by using the normal buying or money word modifiers
what does that mean… we put some keywords that would show intent of purchase in front or behind our keyword

buy, buy online, free shipping, worldwide shipping, express shipping, paypal accepted.. etc.
There is a list somewhere online that will tell you more of them.

Don’t forget if you sign up for our webinars you get a set of 12 easy to follow videos as a thank you and with the option to choose a 900.00 value wordpress site and lead capture system built in.

My advice to those who want to get the fastest results and not to be distracted from your business is to outsource.
